In an effort to support the “Mission Georgia” effort by the Georgia Baptist Convention, Sarepta formed our own Mission Georgia Team. There are five areas of emphasis through Mission Georgia:

• Adoption / Foster care
• Childhood Literacy
• Human Trafficking
• International Refugees
• Maternity Care

As Sarepta’s team was formed, we wanted to focus on one area to begin with.  The team decided that Adoption / Foster Care would be our first area of focus.  We enlisted our Senior Adults to partner with the  Jambos agency.  Our senior adults have collected over a thousand pairs of pajamas for Jambos, who distributes them to kids in the foster care system.

In 2023, a new and unexpected opportunity was presented to us.  Legal refugees began being placed in the Athens area and many of them did not have enough food, due to a gap in the time they arrived and the time they started working.  We were able to establish a partnership with the local Northeast GA Food Bank to provide food for these families.  Our churches also contributed food and cleaning supplies that would assist these families in having a secure start to their lives in our community.
