In an effort to support the “Mission Georgia” effort by the Georgia Baptist Convention, Sarepta formed our own Mission Georgia Team. There are five areas of emphasis through Mission Georgia:
  • Adoption / Foster care
  • Childhood Literacy
  • Human Trafficking
  • International Refugees
  • Pre and Post Natal Care
As Sarepta’s team was formed, we wanted to focus on one area to begin with.  The team decided that Adoption / Foster Care would be our first area of focus.  In launching the Mission Georgia focus in this area, here are several things that are being promoted in 2022-23:
  • Stand Sunday (or Orphan Sunday) We are encouraging our churches to take a few moments to acknowledge support for adoptive and foster families.  We are encouraging a tangible way to provide support and that is collecting pajamas for kids (birth through eighteen).
  • One Day Fun Day – In 2023, our goal is to have at least one “One Day Fun Day” for our foster families.  It will be a day when we can provide an outing and some fun for foster families.
  • Trauma Training – Foster parents deal with kids who have been through significant trauma.  We want to provide support through training foster parents to be able to handle trauma.
As our Mission Georgia Team moves forward, we will be looking at other ways to engage in the various areas of emphasis with Mission Georgia
