The Sarepta Church Growth Resource Team initiated “SOS” (Sharpening Our Saw) as a result of an expressed need from senior pastors. There were two areas of need that our senior pastors identified: sermon preparation and pastoral counseling.

SOS was formed to meet these needs. Four times a year we will be hosting a professor from Truett McConnell University to train our senior pastors in pastoral counseling and sermon preparation. It provides an opportunity for senior pastors to “sharpen” skills that have gotten a bit dull over time. Lunch is provided for our pastors which also provides an excellent time for interacting with each other.

These areas of need may shift from year to year but there is going to be an ongoing effort to invest in helping our pastors keep their skills fresh and effective.
