Financial Secretary – Chris Harper is a native of Georgia and her family was from Canton, Georgia. She lived mostly in the metro Atlanta area until 2017. Chris and her husband, Tom, moved to Commerce in 2017. They are members of Blacks Creek Baptist Church. Chris serves as Co-Treasurer, on the Leadership team, and with the children’s Awana program. She was a member of Atlanta Street Baptist Church, in Roswell, and has served as Treasurer since 2008. Chris has spent 35 years working in various positions in Accounts Payable, Payroll or Accounting. Chris is currently attending Athens Technical College for a Business Management degree.

Director of the International Friends English Teaching Ministry and Administrative Assistant – Amy coordinates the work of numerous volunteers who assist in this ministry. Amy graduated from the University of Georgia and worked as G.E.D. Chief Examiner and E.S.L. Coordinator for Athens Technical College for 10 years. She has also served as an ESL teacher/volunteer with International Friends for nine years, has participated in mission trips overseas and served as an International Bible Study teacher for many years with the UGA BSU, Athens Chinese Church, Prince Avenue Baptist Church, and Green Acres Baptist Church. Amy, her husband, Fred, and her three daughters are members of Green Acres Baptist Church in Athens.

Dr. Lex Bowen has been Director of Missions since May 2006. Lex is a native of Georgia and his hometown is Dawson. He is a graduate of Mississippi College where he majored in Religion. Lex received his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctorate of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His ministry experience covers 20 years of pastoring in Oklahoma and Georgia. He served as Church Planter in Singapore for 3 & 1/2 years. To enhance his experience, Lex worked as a Ministry Consultant with the INJOY group (Dr. John Maxwell) and a Church Consultant with LifeWay. Lex has been married to Pam since 1975 and they have two adult children: Spencer who is married to Claire with two children, and Amanda who is married to Bryce with four children.
